The Graduate Student Council (GSC) is a student-run governing body focused on shaping the graduate student experience at Dartmouth. The GSC sponsors both social and academic events, provides financial support for student organizations, and supports campus-wide initiatives that directly influence the graduate student body. The GSC site is a great hub for announcements and information on events, parties, meetings, and all things relevant to graduate student life.
Students groups dedicated to outdoor activities are popular at Dartmouth. The Hanover area offers a wide range of activities including skiing, rock climbing, hiking, canoeing, sailing, and riding. Students can choose to participate in outdoors clubs or simply venture out on their own.
Hanover also offers an active cultural life, supported by the Hopkins center for the creative and performing arts. The Hopkins center sponsors an active film society, two full concert series, many dramatic productions, art shows, and other events. The Center also provides special workshops open to all faculty and students for woodworking, sculpture, painting, and various craft forms.
