[more]Each year, the Guarini School accepts nominations for the Graduate Student Teaching Award which recognizes the efforts and dedication of a graduate teaching assistant who demonstrates excellence in their role as an educator. Programs and departments are invited to submit letters of nomination to the Committee outlining achievements and accomplishments of their nominee(s), and the award is typically announced during the Investiture ceremonies and events of that given year.
[more]In the summer of 2016, when Hector Sanchez arrived on campus to begin pursuing a PhD in microbiology and immunology, he was, at first, uneasy. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, raised by immigrant parents in a small city outside of Los Angeles, and educated at the University of California at Irvine, he wondered if he would feel out of place at a small, northeastern graduate school in the woods of New Hampshire.

[more]Al Salehi, who graduated from the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program with a concentration in creative writing in 2021, will be representing the Guarini School on the Alumni Countil. As a representative for the School, Salehi acts as a point of contact between the Council and the alumni. He is eager to pursue this role and tells us he is "honored to be part of the group." "My goal is to inspire involvement -- to advocate for volunteering, and to nourish the alumni sentiment," Salehi says.
