Opening Access Through Canvas Legally

Open Access Week Workshop

Monday, October 23, 2017
11:45pm – 1:00pm
DCAL, 102 Baker Library
Intended Audience(s): Faculty, Staff
Categories: Workshops & Training
Registration required.

Learn about tools you can use in Canvas to make it both easy and legal for your students to access the materials with which you most want them to engage.  We’ll discuss questions such as:

  • How do I know my use of copyrighted materials for teaching falls under 'Fair Use'?
  • Is it OK to post PDFs of articles, chapters, or video materials in my Canvas site, and how much can I post?
  • I want some – but not all – of my Canvas website to be publicly available to all– how does that work?
  • What can students download after the course is over?

During this session, the instructors will work with faculty to find answers to these common yet complex questions.  Using best practices, tools such as Creative Commons licenses, and open educational resources, you will be able to make use of open access, copyright, and Fair Use to enhance the learning experiences of your students.

Lunch will be provided, please register here: http://libcal.dartmouth.edu/event/3665965
