On March 27, the Dartmouth Postdoctoral Association (DPA) and the University of New Hampshire Postdoctoral Association co-hosted Postdoctoral Research Day 2026 at the Class of 1982 Engineering and Computer Science Center, bringing together 35 postdoctoral researchers and supporters for a day of interdisciplinary research presentations, keynote addresses, and networking.
The event, conceived and run by postdocs, featured 10-minute and six-minute research talks spanning fields from neuroscience and biochemistry to civil engineering and energy policy, along with an afternoon poster session and reception.
Keynote speaker Vicki May, professor of engineering at Thayer School of Engineering, spoke on STEM communication and outreach, directing attendees to her TED Talk, "Why Do Buildings Fall in Earthquakes?"
Dean Madden, professor of biochemistry and cell biology and Dartmouth's vice provost for research, challenged postdocs to embrace the unexpected in their careers and closed with a simple charge: seek uncertainty.
The day concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding presentations across both short talks and poster sessions.
