My laboratory studies the use of genome engineering using CRISPR/Cas to cleave both viral and cellular genes important for HIV infection and replication. We deliver these genes with lentiviral vectors and have shown we can both eliminate the HIV provirus from an infected cell as well as protect an uninfected cell from infection.
