Genevieve Goebel

PhD Student - Hicks Pries Lab

I am a biogeochemist who is interested in terrestrial carbon cycling. My research aims to examine interactions between (1) secondary mineral phases, (2) reduction-oxidation conditions, (3) respiration by microorganisms and roots, and (4) decomposition of dead organic matter. Using (1) geochemistry, (2) hydrology, (3) microbiology, and (4) plant ecology, I employ a multitude of disciplinary perspectives to better understand, predict, and manipulate carbon storage in New England's temperate forest soils.
