Graduate students must be enrolled in a certain number of courses to have full-time status.
For financial aid purposes, a graduate student enrolled in two or more courses or in a graduate research course is considered to be a full-time student.
However, for IRS purposes under certain circumstances, a three-course load may be required for full-time status. Therefore, we advise all students to enroll in three courses each term. All candidates for the PhD are required to enroll in a three-course load.
A full-time student in the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies who is in good academic standing is considered to be making satisfactory progress unless the student's graduate committee or the Dean of the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies has placed the student in unsatisfactory academic standing or taken action to separate the student from the college.
