Postdocs at Dartmouth

Definition of a Postdoc at Dartmouth

A postdoctoral scholar is an individual who has received a doctoral (or equivalent) degree and is appointed for a limited period of time of mentored advanced training to enhance the professional skills and research independence needed to pursue his or her chosen career path.  The primary purpose of a postdoctoral scholar is to engage in advanced study and training; in some cases teaching may be part of that training.  Normally, a postdoctoral scholar will be supported by external awards or fellowships.
