Sarah Vandal Awarded ASCB COMPASS Outreach Grant

Sarah Vandal, an MCB graduate student, was awarded a COMPASS Outreach Grant from the American Society for Cell Biology Committee for Postdocs and Students (ASCB COMPASS) to support Science Day at Dartmouth. Science Day is organized by graduate students to welcome local students into their labs to meet real scientists-in-training and learn about the wide range of STEM research through hands-on activities. It will take place on April 8th 2023 from 10am to 3pm. Activities and demonstrations are geared for students in 5th - 10th grade, but learners of all ages are welcome!

Sarah is a 2nd year grad student in Jamie Moseley's lab in the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine. There, she uses fission yeast as a model organism to study how cells coordinate growth and division to regulate their size.

Science Day at Dartmouth is also organized by fellow MCB graduate students Irma Vlasac, Samantha Liu, and Sarah Valles. The event is generously supported by the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies with additional support provided by Bio X Cell.
