Sarah Chae

Originally from North Jersey, Sarah earned her B.S. in Biology with a minor in Bioethics from Villanova University. During her time there, Sarah worked in Dr. Elaine Youngman's lab, studying the role of RNA helicases against heat stress in germ cell development of Caenorhabditis elegans. It was an immunology course, however, that sparked her interest in cancer immunology with its complex interconnectedness and potential to improve many lives. 

After graduating, Sarah joined Dr. Radhashree Maitra's lab at Yeshiva University as a lab technician, where she investigated therapeutic targets of KRAS mutant colorectal cancer that exploit the autophagy pathway. Motivated by the many questions that remain, Sarah joined the MCB program, where she hopes to explore how oncogenic mutations shape the distinct heterogeneity and spatial distribution of cancer and immune cells within the tumor microenvironment.

Outside the lab, she enjoys wandering around the city for new food spots, visiting museums, finding gems in vintage shops, and traveling to new places!
