Anthony Valletta

Anthony grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania. He received his BS in Biological Science from Duquesne University in 2026 with minors in Chemistry and English.  His undergraduate thesis outlined the discovery of biofilm-associated genes in Pseudomonas fluorescens. This research identified biosynthetic genes that contribute to the dry, wrinkly appearance of P. fluorescens biofilms. At Dartmouth, Anthony hopes to further explore bacteria-bacteria and bacteria-host interactions with an emphasis on how these competitive/collaborative relationships affect infection and the evolution of antimicrobial resistance. Outside of the lab, Anthony enjoys hiking, knitting, and playing the oboe.
