Adwaita Bose

Shoemaker lab

I am from Kolkata, the city of Joy, in the eastern part of India. I completed my integrated MS in Biotechnology from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, in 2022 and worked as a tech/research assistant at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore for a year. I have always been fascinated by cell biology, specifically by the miniature world of organellar biology. As a tech, I investigated the role of tropomyosin, an actin-binding protein in maintaining mitochondrial morphology, dynamics, and activity in budding yeast. I have worked on a couple of other projects addressing fundamental cell biology questions, aimed at understanding the crosstalk between the cilia and mitochondria, and cilia and actin in human retinal cell lines. I am a trained, professional Bharatanatyam dancer (it is an Indian Classical dance form) and an amateur baker. Thus, outside the lab, I will be either found in the kitchen baking desserts or in a studio, dancing my heart out. I'm excited to be on the other side of the Atlantic, especially in NH, for its exceptional fall colours and a scope for innumerable outdoor activities.
