Amy Conaway

Amy Conaway is a PhD candidate in the Hogan Lab in Microbiology and Immunology. She received her bachelor's from Middlebury College in 2020 before joining the MCB program. Amy is interested in how bacterial inter- and intraspecies interactions can alter pathogen virulence. She studies the mechanism behind increased fitness and virulence in common Pseudomonas aeruginosa variants. Her work has been supported by the DartCF training grant and the Ruth L. Kirschstein F31 fellowship. Amy believes the best research is done by diverse teams and is passionate about recruiting and retaining minoritized scientists. She enjoys participating in Dartmouth Graduate Students with Disabilities, attending the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minoritized Scientists (ABRCMS), and volunteering with Skype a Scientist. Her work has been recognized by nominations to the New Hampshire New Leaders Council fellowship and chief steward in the Graduate Organized Laborers of Dartmouth (GOLD).
