Jiye Bae

Jiye Bae received her B.S. and M.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology, as well as a B.A. in Public Health Studies, from Johns Hopkins University. There, she worked in the Semenza Lab, studying the effects of potentially causative mutations in HIF-associated genes, including KDM4C and CDKN2A, on HIF-1 activity in the context of Ollier's Disease and Maffucci Syndrome. After completing her master's degree, she worked in immunotherapeutic drug discovery, investigating protein-protein interactions relevant to various diseases to support the development of antibody therapeutics. Her research interests lie in the genetic mechanisms that drive disease onset and progression, as well as the ways in which patient variants contribute to disease pathogenesis. Outside the lab, she enjoys reading and writing, consuming media of all kinds, and spending quality time with the people she loves, whether it be trying good food, exploring new places, or having new experiences.
