I hail from the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, where I graduated with an honors degree in Microbiology from the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, situated at the heart of the world's first sanctuary. My undergraduate journey led me to a captivating research endeavor - studying drought tolerance genes in rice using cutting-edge CRISPR/Cas9 technology. This experience ignited my passion for molecular biology and set the stage for my future endeavors. After completing my undergraduate studies, I continued my academic journey as a teaching assistant and research assistant in the Faculty of Technology at Rajarata University. Here, I had the privilege of collaborating with an exceptional team of experts spanning the disciplines of Biotechnology, Entomology, Molecular Biology, and Microbiology. Working alongside both undergraduate students and academic staff on various projects, I discovered a profound joy in sharing knowledge and exploring the realms of scientific research.
Beyond the lab and lecture halls, I find solace in expressing my creativity through drawing. Music is another passion of mine, and you might just catch me singing a tune or two. I have a deep appreciation for cinematic artistry and enjoy watching movies as a way to unwind. I also cherish spending time with animals and have a profound curiosity about their behavior. As I embark on this new chapter at Dartmouth, I am eager to continue studying molecular genetics, contribute to the research community, and immerse myself in the natural beauty of this enchanting place.
