Nadia Rene Barbo

Nadia graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a BS in Biology and Environmental Studies. She then received a Master of Environmental Management degree from Duke University with a concentration in Ecotoxicology and Environmental Health. Her master's thesis focused on the spatial and temporal effects of urban water samples on zebrafish neurobehavior. To further explore the interconnected nature of environmental chemical exposure and health, Nadia joined the Environmental Protection Agency as an ORISE Fellow where she developed assays to quantify the impact of chemical exposures on various key characteristics of the immune system. At Dartmouth, Nadia is excited to explore all the opportunities the MCB program has to offer, with specific interests in the immunological and ecological aspects of host-microbe interactions. In her free time, Nadia enjoys knitting, running, and spending time with her pets Esti, Noki, and Bijou.
