Rachel is a New Hampshire native from Londonderry. She earned her BS in Biochemistry from the University of Vermont in 2020, completing her thesis investigating the role of B cell metabolism on effector function. She then spent two years researching microRNA and their role in maintaining stemness at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. She is now a PhD candidate in the Supattapone Lab researching molecular regulators of prion infection using CRISPR-Cas9 genetic screens on tissue culture models. Her research passions are for infectious disease and immunology, and she enjoys communicating her science to anyone who will listen. When not in the lab, Rachel can found skiing in the winter, reading in a hammock in the summer, and baking for her friends year-round.
