Shoemaker lab

Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Sam received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst Commonwealth Honors College and a minor in Biology. At UMass, Sam worked in Dr. Amanda Woerman's Lab studying the role of protein misfolding in neurodegenerative diseases and conducted her senior thesis on using a Ramachandran-based approach to analyze the amyloid forming protein alpha-synuclein. Since arriving at Dartmouth, Sam has joined the lab of Dr. Christopher Shoemaker, where she is interested in studying the organelle-dependent mechanisms of tail-anchored protein quality control. During her free time Sam loves photography, swimming, and cooking. She is also passionate about early science outreach and mentorship.
