Lauren Tran '14 MS Computer Science

At the 2014 Grace Hopper Celebration conference that Dartmouth sent her to, Master of Science ('14) alumna Lauren Tran was interviewed by a recruiter from Microsoft, her dream company from a young age. She was not sure if she was fit for the position of Technical Evangelist but decided to go for it with the assertion that taking risks can go a long way.

Today, she continues this role at Microsoft working with Azure Machine Learning, an integration of cloud services that professionals can use to build and manage applications. She and her team advise young to experienced professionals in IT and data management, as well as CEOs and CTOs of technology companies.

With a master's education in computer science, Tran combines her skills as a coder and a marketer to empower others to achieve success in their businesses through the use of cloud and mobile services. Her graduate education at Dartmouth College is a culmination of both computer science courses and a research assistantship in Machine Learning and Computer Vision.

Tran's current work at Microsoft brings together her academic and research experiences to further the advancement of modern technology and to inspire others through live demonstrations and discussions. She represented Microsoft at the 2015 GHC Conference and gave demos on Machine Learning and applications of artificial intelligence in today's business and technology worlds. Tran's unexpected dive into her dream job at Microsoft is just one example of success, and attests to the types of opportunities Dartmouth graduate students have towards finding their career paths.
