Information for Submission of Thesis, Dissertation, or Course-Track Fulfillments

Submission deadlines for the 2025-2026 Academic Year:

• Winter 2026: March 20, 2026
• Spring 2026: May 20, 2026

Submission deadlines for the 2026-2027 Academic Year:

• Summer 2026: August 20, 2026
• Fall 2026: December 20, 2026
• Winter 2027: March 20, 2027
• Spring 2027: May 20, 2027

Please Note: Your actual degree conferral date will be determined by the Board of Trustees meeting schedule and may not necessarily be the term in which you submit your thesis. 

Submission Requirements (Thayer MS/PhD students, please contact the Thayer registrar for submission details):

• Defense Outcome and Degree Completion Form (download to digitally sign and complete).
  
  • Refer to these defense outcome guidelines.
  • The defense outcome form will be emailed to Amy Gallagher by your program upon the completion of your defense.
• PDF of entire thesis 
  
  • Thesis must be properly formatted for single-sided printing with 1.5 inch left margin
  • See these thesis guidelines for additional formatting requirements (page numbering, etc.). Some departments provide thesis templates in Word or LaTeX that can be exported to PDF. Check with your department for availability.
  • PDF must include the signed title page**.
  • Email the PDF to Amy.L.Gallagher@Dartmouth.edu

• Upload thesis to Dartmouth Digital Commons 
  • This version should NOT include committee signatures

• PhD Students Only
  • Complete SED (Survey of Earned Doctorates)
  • Guarini School Survey 

** Signatures on Title Page: All signatures must be on one title page. Electronic signatures are allowed. Ideally, the electronic signatures should be high-resolution versions of an actual signature. In cases where a committee member does not have a digital copy of their actual signature and is unable to sign in person, they may provide you with an alternative form such as an Adobe signature or typewritten signature. All signatures will be verified by your program. Dean Jon Kull will sign after work is submitted to the Guarini School.
