Postdoc Appreciation Week

National Postdoc Appreciation Week is a full week of events and activities in celebration and recognition of the important contributions Postdocs make to the Guarini and Dartmouth community.

For 2024, events are planned from September 16-20. Read below about local events planned by your DPA exec board, postdoc bingo, and virtual events offered throughout the week. We hope to see you there! 

Selected NPAW virtual events are listed below and you can check out the NPA's website to see all that's offered!

Monday Sept 16 

• Postdoc Appreciation Reception, 4-6pm, DOC House by Occom Pond (10 Hilton Field Rd, Hanover, with parking across the street!) - open to all Dartmouth postdocs and the grad students, faculty, and staff who appreciate you! Please register for planning purposes.

Tuesday Sept 17

• Letterpress Orientation for postdocs through the Library's Book Arts Workshop at 5-8pm - Please register! 

Wednesday Sept 18 

• Postdocs & Family Pizza & Games, 4:30-6 pm, South Atrium of ECSC building - Join us along with your family for a delightful gathering filled with games, pizza, and refreshments. Bring your favorite games! Please register! 

Thursday Sept 19

• Research Funding and Grant Writing Resources Panel, 10-11am - Come to learn about Office of Sponsored Projects, Grants Proposal Support and Community and Foundation Relations and how they support researchers with fudning and grant applications. Please register! 

Friday afternoon (weather dependent)

• Postdoc canoeing and kayaking on the Connecticut River! Please register! 

*** Feel free to invite fellow postdocs to join you at other local events that week, like Trivia Night (teams of 6) at Putnam's vine/yard on Tuesday at 6pm.  Please use the #rideshare channel in the Postdoc Slack if you want to coordinate a ride to/from events***

Postdoc Bingo - Download our Postdoc bingo card.  Spend National Postdoc Appreciation Week (September 16-20) meeting as many postdocs as you can and find a different person for each category.  Send in your completed card to be entered in a drawing to win a prize!

Watch for upcoming opportunities from the DPA to join in local events other postdocs are involved with or like to do, such as the Upper Valley Running Club, visiting the Montshire Museum, picking apples at Poverty Lane Orchards, and more!
