Dartmouth GSC Hosts Ivy+ Summit 2024

Graduate leaders from 10 institutions gather to tackle shared challenges, celebrate accomplishments, and strengthen collaboration.

The Dartmouth Graduate Student Council (GSC) hosted the Ivy+ Summit 2024, bringing together representatives from 10 institutions, including Cornell, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Brown, MIT, Dartmouth, and the University of Chicago.

The summit, held for the third time by Dartmouth's GSC, provided a platform for graduate student leaders to discuss accomplishments, challenges, and areas of growth from the past year. While each school brought unique perspectives, attendees found their goals often aligned.

Planning for the conference began in July with a small steering committee composed of Guarini Fellows, the Assistant Dean, and members of the GSC Executive Board. The Guarini School and its staff played a key role in supporting the success of the event.

Following a welcome address by Jon Kull, dean of the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies, attendees engaged in breakout sessions on Saturday.  Discussions covered food and financial security, housing and transportation, student spaces, healthcare and mental wellness, and accessibility.

Delegates discussed graduate student representation and proposed forming a collaborative committee across participating schools to advance shared goals.

The summit concluded with closing remarks from Dartmouth GSC President Himanshu Goswami who highlighted the productive discussions and sense of community fostered during the event. Dartmouth ceremoniously passed the torch to Brown University, which will host the 2025 Ivy+ Summit on their campus in Providence, RI.

From insightful conversations to a strong sense of camaraderie, the weekend was celebrated as a resounding success.
