Dr. Xin Li Awarded 2025 John W. Strohbehn Medal for Excellence in Biomedical Research

Dr. Xin Li has won the 2025 John W. Strohbehn Medal for Excellence in Biomedical Research. This award is presented to a graduating PhD student whose work embodies the hallmarks of true scientific leadership: driven by curiosity, marked by rigorous and original research, and guided by a strong sense of responsibility to the broader scientific community. Professor Duane Compton, dean of the Geisel School of Medicine, presented the award at the Guarini Investiture ceremony.

Dr. Li completed his PhD in immunology in the department of microbiology and immunology, where he conducted research in the Jakubzick lab. His work has significantly advanced understanding of macrophage biology, with findings published in leading journals such as Nature Immunology, Immunity, and The Journal of Experimental Medicine. He is a contributing author on sixteen published manuscripts, including five as first author, and several more are currently under review or in preparation.

When presenting the award, Dean Compton noted that "Xin's contributions reflect depth, maturity, and a passion for advancing scientific knowledge, and we are proud to recognize his work with this award."

Dr. Li will continue his academic career as a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Weiping Zou at the University of Michigan, where he will study cancer immunotherapies.

Congratulations to Dr. Xin Li.
