Investiture and Commencement

The Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies at Dartmouth will host its Investiture Ceremony for graduating master's and doctoral students on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Thayer, Geisel Masters and MHCDS/MHA have separate ceremonies for their graduates.
 
Students who are planning on graduating in 2026 (Summer 2025, Fall 2025, Winter 2026 and Spring 2026) will receive Investiture and/or Commencement information via email in mid- to late-March 2026. If you have questions or do not receive this email, please e-mail Amy Gallagher. 

Schedule

• 3:15 p.m. - Graduates and faculty in full regalia will gather in front of Dartmouth Hall to line up for the processional.
• 4:00 p.m. - The ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m. on the College Green. (Severe weather protocol TBD)
• 5:30 p.m. - Reception to follow at 5:30 p.m. on the Class of 1978 Life Sciences Center Lawn under a tent.

Caps and gowns are worn with appropriate attire during the Investiture ceremony on Saturday and during the Commencement ceremony on Sunday.

Master's Regalia

The cost for master's regalia is $69.75. Master's regalia can be shipped to Dartmouth free of charge for pick up at 53 Commons in the Paganucci Lounge from Thursday, June 11 through Saturday, June 13. The deadline to order is May 10, 2026.
 
You may also choose to have your masters regalia shipped to your home for a $17.95 fee (domestic) or $60.00 (internationally). Taxes may be applied, dependent on shipping address. The deadline for the ship to home option is May 17, 2026.

PhD Regalia

The doctoral regalia rental package includes a tam, hood, and gown. The cost for the full rental package is $107.50 (Gown: $44.00, Tam: $36.50, Hood $27.00). Rental regalia can only be shipped to Dartmouth for pick up at 53 Commons in the Paganucci Lounge from Thursday, June 11 through Saturday, June 13. The deadline to rent doctoral regalia is May 10, 2026. There is no shipping or handling fee for regalia rentals.
 
Custom fine quality doctoral regalia can be purchased for $903.00 (Gown: $593.00, Tam: $140.00, Hood $170.00). All custom regalia is shipped to your home for a $17.95 fee (domestic) or $60.00 (internationally). Taxes may be applied, dependent on shipping address. The deadline to purchase custom regalia is April 12, 2026.
 
You may also combine rental and purchase of individual pieces of regalia, just be sure to order all three pieces.

Faculty Regalia

Dartmouth faculty who wish to march in the Guarini School Investiture may rent regalia through Conferences and Events by completing registration through their website. Please note, faculty must provide a chartstring in order to complete a rental order. Rented regalia will need to be returned to Conferences and Events.

Rehearsal for Guarini School Graduate Investiture Ceremony is on Friday, June 12, 2026.

If you are attending the Guarini Graduate School Investiture Ceremony, please plan to attend a rehearsal on the College Green. We will provide details for the Saturday ceremony, walk you through the hooding process and answer any questions. 
 
Please meet the Guarini staff on the front lawn of Dartmouth Hall at 12:30 p.m.
 
This rehearsal is not required but is highly recommended.
