Guarini Mental Health Awareness Month 2023

2023 Mental Health Awareness Month Event Listing

The Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies and the Dartmouth College Postdoc Association have created a month-long program to raise awareness of, and to support, the importance of good mental health. 

Kick off the month with the Unwind Your Mind event on April 28 at Collis and Mass Row between 1pm and 4pm for food, fun, and mental health resources.

UNWIND YOUR MIND EVENT

KORU Mindfulness Training for Graduate and Professional School Students
Mondays in May: 1, 8, 15, 22, and 28
5:00 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.
Location: Tuck School, TBC

Registration Required
Koru Mindfulness is an introductory class that will teach you the skill of mindfulness. It will also help you build the habit of using it in your life on a regular basis. 

Baker Library Tower Tour

Location: Information desk in the Baker Library main hall

See things from a different perspective at one of the highest points on campus.
Reaching the Bell Tower cat-walk requires climbing several flights of stairs including a "ladder-like" stair for the last 20 feet. Climbing the stairs and walking outside on the cat-walk may be physically demanding and difficult for any person uncomfortable with heights.

BIPOC Mental Health Event

Community lunch held by the Guarini School for BIPOC graduate students during Mental Health Month. Please join us at the Guarini Commons on May 4th at 12 PM. Meet other graduate students and grab a bite to eat.

Stress and Learning

Stress and trauma can influence our ability to learn. We'll spend some time indentifying sources of stress in our own lives and our students' lives and reflect on how that's impacting our learning. We'll share out some ideas for stress reduction. 

Career Exploration Workshop

Are you feeling a bit confused about what career you would like to pursue? Wondering what you have to offer future employers? Then, sign-up for this workshop. This Career Exploration workshop is designed to help science graduate students and postdocs identify their skills, find careers that match their interests, and set goals that will lead them towards securing a job. For this session please be prepared by creating an account with https://myidp.sciencecareers.org/. (You will be asked to fill in sections during the workshop) NIH and other funding sources are starting to require graduate students/postdocs to have an IDP so get a head start!
