Signature Wounds and Healing Pathways in the Pandemic Recovery Era

Description:  The chronic stress and trauma exposures that characterized the pandemic has placed frontline workers at increase risk for negative mental health and occupational outcomes. This presentation will summarize findings from the 9-wave longitudinal RAISe study (Resilience and Adaptation in Stress), which focuses on identifying problems and pathways to healing in areas of mental health, moral distress, and social healing pathways.

Bio:  Dr. Smith is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor in the Geisel School of Medicine/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. He is founder and director of the Behavioral Health Clinic for Residents and Fellows. In this role, he provides direct clinical services and maintains an applied research focus on improving interventions for chronically stressed populations through his expertise in population health, evidence-based treatments, and contexts characterized by chronic stress and trauma. He holds research faculty positions at the Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience at the University of Colorado, the Huntsman Mental Health Institute at the University of Utah, and has distinction as a Pat Tillman Military Scholar.
