    Dr. Shannon Hinsa-Leasure is a microbiologist and an associate professor of biology at Grinnell College. Her lab is studying whether the use of copper alloys in hospitals can reduce the number of bacteria on surfaces, a major source of hospital-acquired infections and the spread of antibiotic resistance genes from hog confinements into the environment. While earning her Ph.D. in molecular and cellular biology at Dartmouth, Hinsa was a graduate student in the laboratory of professor George O’Toole. When Hinsa was finishing her B.S.

    Molly went to Keene State College in Keene, NH and graduated in 2010 with a B.S. in chemistry. She came to Dartmouth to begin her PhD in Chemistry in the fall of 2010, joined Dean Wilcox's lab, and left in February 2016 with a PhD in bioinorganic chemistry (metals and proteins). She started with Avitide in Lebanon, NH in February of 2016.

Thanks to advances in technology in recent years, scientists have been able to study biological systems and accumulate vast amounts of data.

  • Alumni Profiles: Nicholas Graham, MALS '15

    Nicholas Graham is passionate about building and sustaining communities. He attended Dartmouth College from 2012 to 2015, where he received a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies. During his time at Dartmouth, he served as Communications Coordinator for the Office of Graduate Studies and performed in music ensembles and competitions on campus, earning Grand Prize in the 2014 and 2015 Culley Concerto Competition. Nicholas wrote his thesis on the adaptation of instrumental performers to advancements in digital technology.
