    The Science Technology and Engineering Policy Society (STEPS) held their 2nd annual mini-conference on October 14, 2017. The event advocated for the understanding of science issues impacting our society, namely childhood vaccinations. The conference strategically chose three distinct speakers who focused the issue of vaccinations from three different viewpoints: fundamental vaccine knowledge, effective communication of scientific knowledge, and science policy knowledge.

  • Dartmouth Community Members Voice Concern for Nepal

    Many members of the Dartmouth community have been affected by the April 25 earthquake in Nepal—from students concerned about family members in Kathmandu, to researchers whose field sites on Mount Everest may have been damaged, to the mother of a Dartmouth trustee who chairs the board of directors for a nonprofit promoting educational and cultural links between the people of Nepal and the U.S. Here’s a sampling of the news received by Dartmouth Now:

  • Graduate Student Makes Trek to Bhutan’s Chaling Jungle

    By Joni B. Cole A few weeks ago, Brian Young flew back to Vermont after a three-month research trip in a remote region of Bhutan. He called his host family to let them know he arrived home safely, and just happened to catch them in the process of migrating with their herd of 60 dzomo, a yak hybrid.
