Currently enrolled Dartmouth Ph.D. graduate students. Graduate alumni must apply through Tuck's regular admissions process and will not be eligible for the accelerated program which includes using 4 previously taken classes in lieu of 1 term of distributives.
Ph.D. graduate students can apply any time, however this is an extremely competitive process and we suggest you take the time necessary to demonstrate an interest and competence in business by learning about the MBA in general; engaging in the Tuck environment, through for instance attending conferences and events; talking to Tuck students; participating in Tuck organizations; and auditing certain classes. Tuck has agreed to waive the application fee for Dartmouth Ph.D. graduate students applying to this program. Prior to applying on-line, please contact Gary Hutchins in the Guarini School to arrange a free waiver with the Tuck Admissions Office.
No, if you have taken the GRE's within the past five years, you may submit your GRE scores. Otherwise you should plan on taking the GMAT and submitting those scores.
The ETS testing service considers GRE scores to be valid for 5 years from the time of testing. Your scores will be used as long as this time limit has not been passed. If it is beyond the 5 year limit, you should plan to take the GRE or GMAT exam to complete your application.
Ph.D. graduate students must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D., including having handed in their signed thesis, prior to starting in the fall quarter. Students who have not completed all requirements must request to defer entrance until the following fall, or will be withdrawn from the program.
Ph.D. graduate students must apply for financial aid through the Tuck Financial Aid Office. Merit based scholarships are available.
We encourage graduate students to discuss their interest in the program with their advisors. It is very important to be realistic about the timeline and entrance requirements so that there are no misunderstandings about your potential completion date of the Ph.D.. As such, it is important to have an open understanding with your advisor about your interest in the program.
Tuck suggests that you have your advisor and if possible someone outside your academic work to demonstrate your ability to handle multiple commitments while in graduate school.
