    • Four MALS Students Receive 2025 Byam Shaw-Brownstone Thesis Excellence Award

      Four students have been honored with the 2025 Byam Shaw-Brownstone Thesis Excellence Award, which recognizes outstanding interdisciplinary scholarship in each of the Masters of Liberal Arts (MALS) program concentrations. Established in 2000 through the generous support of Nicholas Byam-Shaw and the Clyde and Diane Brownstone Foundation, the award celebrates exceptional thesis work across the MALS curriculum.

        The Marshals carry specially commissioned batons engraved with the crest of the Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies as they lead their peers in the Investiture procession.  For the 2023 Investiture ceremony, we are delighted to recognize D. Timothy Poisson, MALS, Debbie Sulca, MS, and Sarah Steimel, PhD, as Investiture Marshals.

    • Alumni Council Guarini Representative: Al Salehi, MALS '21

      Al Salehi, who graduated from the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program with a concentration in creative writing in 2021, will be representing the Guarini School on the Alumni Countil. As a representative for the School, Salehi acts as a point of contact between the Council and the alumni.  He is eager to pursue this role and tells us he is "honored to be part of the group." "My goal is to inspire involvement -- to advocate for volunteering, and to nourish the alumni sentiment," Salehi says.
