If so, you are in good company—ecologists have been studying the factors regulating grassland-woodland dynamics since the discipline was formalized in the late 19th century. One “field” of study (pun intended) attempts to understand why meadows persist in mountainous forests at temperate latitudes.

    The third annual Celebration of Biomedical Research at Dartmouth (CBRaD) is being held Thursday, October 26 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm on the second floor of the Life Sciences Center. CBRaD is an event that brings together scientific research from all graduate programs at Dartmouth and creates a unique environment of diversity that aims to support collaborative research efforts.

    Carotenoids are a diverse group of pigments that are readily produced by plants and algae but must be obtained by animals through dietary means. They are used by many taxonomic groups including lizards, birds, fish, mollusks, and insects for myriad functions including visual pigmentation, photoprotection, antioxidation, and signaling.

  • Dartmouth Co-Leads International Teens in Arctic Research

    Arctic postdoctoral fellow Lauren Culler recently returned to Hanover from doing fieldwork in Greenland, where Dartmouth had just taken the helm of the U.S. contribution to the Joint Science Education Program (JSEP), a program jointly led and funded with the government of Greenland.
