    Varsha Shukla, PhD Innovation Fellow at Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering and President of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Dartmouth Student Chapter, recently joined a national delegation for IEEE-USA Congressional Visits Day (CVD) 2025 in Washington, D.C. The annual event brings together the country's leading engineers, scientists, and technologists to engage directly with Members of Congress and government leaders to support innovation, STEM education, and responsible technology development.

    Mohmed Moustafa Dawoud, a PhD student in computer science, was one of four Guarini students who traveled to Washington, D.C. for the AAAS CASE 2025 conference, which introduces graduate students to federal policymaking and advocacy for scientific research. What do you consider your hometown and how has it shaped you today? I proudly consider Zefta, a vibrant city along the Nile Delta in Egypt, to be my hometown. With its rich history, close-knit community, and deep-rooted culture, Zefta has shaped not just where I come from—but who I am.

  • Guarini Students Bring Science Advocacy to Capitol Hill

    Four Guarini School of Graduate and Advanced Studies students traveled to Washington, D.C. this month to participate in the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Catalyzing Advocacy in Science and Engineering (CASE) conference, an immersive workshop that introduces graduate students to the federal policy-making process, highlights the role of science in shaping public policy, and empowers them to become lifelong advocates for research.
